Arlington - D.C Metro

A rlington, Virginia is a beautiful suburb of Washington, D.C., situated along the banks of the Potomac River. Composed of five distinct urban neighborhoods, Arlington combines a diverse population, world-class restaurants, hot nightlife, unique boutiques and memorials to the American military and its role is our nation's history. Arlington is served by the D.C. Metro transit system, widely regarded as one of the cleanest and easiest to navigate in the world. With such easy access to the D.C. Metropolitan area, residents here can easily work in nearby Baltimore or Washington, D.C. itself.

Arlington is most widely regarded as home to the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery. But there is so much more to this area. Its neighborhoods have won awards for their managed growth policies and implementation. Residents are actively involved in their community, reflected in Arlington's more than 100 community service groups, 50 civic associations, and dozens of citizen boards and commissions. The highest density housing areas are concentrated around the Metro stops in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and Jefferson Davis corridor.

Arlington currently supports a population of just under 200,000 residents. While it is one of the most densely populated areas in the nation, its density is less than that of its surrounding communities. Residents here represent an incredible diversity of race, ethnicity, age and culture. One in four Arlington residents was born outside of the United States, partly owing to the large military and retired military presence in the area. The median household income of a resident here is approximately $70,000 per year. Home values here reflect the desirability of the area. The 2000 Census lists the median home value in Arlington at $262,400. The majority of jobs within Arlington are in two major sectors. Approximately 44% of available jobs are in the Services, and 28% in Government. Like its multi-family housing options, the majority of jobs are concentrated along the Rosslyn-Ballston and Jefferson Davis corridors. Additionally, it is estimated that job availability in the area will continue to grow, and that the city will be home to over 275,000 jobs within the next twenty years.
